Rentals

Etobicoke Handweavers and Spinners support members by providing good quality rental equipment at a nominal cost. Prospective weavers and spinners have a chance to investigate the craft without major investment.

You must be a member of the Guild for a minimum of three months prior to renting weaving or spinning equipment. All rentals are organized with the convenor and a rental contract signed. The required security deposit (cheque or e-transfer) will be returned when the equipment is returned in good condition.

WEAVING EQUIPMENT RENTALS

EHS Weaving Equipment Rental Contract

LOOMS

8-Shaft Louet table loom, 16” wide

  • $800.00 deposit by cheque or etransfer, held to the end of the rental period
  • ​The rental is for a three month period at $10/month**

8-Shaft LeClerc floor loom, 36″ wide

  • $500.00 deposit by cheque or etransfer, held to the end of the rental period
  • The rental is for a three month period at $10/month**

4-shaft Dorothy Table Looms, 15” wide

  • ​$500.00 deposit ​by cheque or etransfer, held to the end of the rental period
  • ​The rental is for a three month period at $10/month**

Rigid Heddle Table Loom, 16” wide

  • $275.00 deposit ​by cheque or etransfer, held to the end of the rental period
  • The rental will be for a two month period at $10/month**

Rigid Heddle Table Loom, 24” wide

  • $300.00 deposit, ​by cheque or etransfer, held to the end of the rental period
  • The rental will be for a two month period at $10/month**

Travellers 36” Floor Loom

  • $500.00 deposit, ​by cheque or etransfer, held to the end of the rental period
  • ​The rental charge is $10/month**

**The rental period may be extended depending on availability.

In-Studio Equipment

Use of the 45”, 36” and 60” Jack Looms can be booked through the weaving convenor.

SPINNING EQUIPMENT RENTAL

EHS Spinning Equipment Rental Contract

WHEELS

  • ​$500.00 deposit for any wheel leaving the premises to be held until the end of the rental period
  • ​The rental is for a three months period at $10/month.

DRUM CARDER

  • ​A $350.00 deposit for any drum carder leaving the premises to be held until the end of the rental period.
  • ​During the pandemic, all of the drum carders can be rented monthly. The monthly rental is: $10.00
    Three carders are available:
    • Coarse (28 tpi)
    • Lendrum (medium)
    • Pat Green (fine/fur).
  • In the absence of a pandemic, the Lendrum and Coarse carders only can be rented weekly/monthly. The Pat Green Fine drum carder ​MUST BE​ in Studio C for ​EVERY​ meeting of the Guild, including Friday studio time, Sunday studio time, Tuesday Guild meetings, Wednesday spinning meetings and any other meetings which we may hold.
  • There will be a $25.00 fee if the drum carder is not returned for any of the meetings/studio time as noted above.

COMBS

  • Deposit: Roger Hawkins combs: $175.00 ​
  • ​Deposit: Alvin Ramer combs: $200.00
  • ​The combs MUST BE in Studio C for EVERY meeting of the Guild, including Friday studio time, Sunday studio time, Tuesday Guild meetings, Wednesday spinning meetings and any other meetings.
  • ​The rental fee is $5.00 between meetings.
  • ​There will be a $25.00 fee if the combs are not returned for any of the meetings/studio time as noted above.

ASHFORD BLENDING BOARD

  • ​Deposit: $250.00.
  • The rental is for a one month period at $10.00

BLENDING HACKLE

  • Roger Hawkins Blending hackle: $100.00 deposit.
  • The rental is for a one month period at $10.00
