Our speaker will be Carl Stewart, speaking about his work “The Great Cloth.” It examines the influence of what Stewart calls heritage fabrics on contemporary textile art, specifically the influence of Scottish estate tweeds on his own textile work. The talk begins with a history of estate tweeds, then moves to a discussion of his project clò mòr (“clo moore”) and ends with how estate tweeds have influenced and informed that work.
