Fall Into Dyeing with Jack Paltanen of Blue Trillium Textiles
Using natural dye practices firmly rooted in the techniques of the Venetian Renaissance, Jack Paltanen will guide participants through a variety of dye techniques culminating in a harmonious palette of twelve colours on Ontario processed merino wool. A variety of local, and historic dyes will be used, including, walnut, sumac, madder, weld or goldenrod, and a natural blue. He will also cover dye safety, yarn prep for wool, vat set-up, and current best practices for foraging dyestuffs. Primary Book Reference: The Plictho by Gioanventura Rosetti (1548).
