Join Katie Longboat to create a collective beaded mini-quilt! Participants will learn the basics of bead embroidery, flat stitch method, to create their own unique beaded 2”x 2” square. Squares will be photographed to create a digital quilt, and each participant will leave with their beaded piece that can be framed or used as a pin, or patch. Participants will be provided with beading demonstrations, resources, guidance, and beading tips to design and complete their projects. There will also be space to engage in knowledge sharing on the cultural significance of beading.

Katie Longboat is a Mohawk and Cree beadwork artist originally from Six Nations of the Grand River. Katie’s beadwork incorporates intricate designs, contemporary materials and bold colours to create unique jewelry pieces and beaded artwork.

Registration Fee: EHS members: $80, non-members: $90
Materials fee for the provided beading kit: $25 payable to instructor on day of workshop
